The jilted daughter is severely emotionally damaged.

Not only did she fall for a man who is clearly a moron and an amoral cad, she stood by while her own mother and husband betrayed her and then assuaged whatever vestigial guilt they may have had by blessing their vile behavior.

She literally hates herself. She believes that she is valueless and is worth less than nothing to anybody. And her own mother has encouraged her in that thinking.
