SHUT UP AND SING

A New Book by Laura Ingraham

Meet the elites. They think you're stupid. They think all freedom loving Americans are stupid.

They think patriotism is stupid. They think churchgoing is stupid. They think flag-flying is stupid.

They despise families with more than two children.

They are sure that where we live -- anywhere but near or in a few major cities -- is an insipid cultural wasteland.

They think your SUV is evil -- although theirs is absolutely necessary. They think owning a gun is criminal. They think George Bush is an idiot.

They even think it's wrong for us to do what we have to do to protect our nation and our loved ones. Worst of all, they think our abiding belief in the goodness of America and its founding principles is naïve and misguided.

But in this refreshing and blisteringly insightful look at the elites, Laura Ingraham reveals that it is they, not us, who are the stupid ones -- and that loudmouth liberals like Barbra Streisand would do better to just "SHUT UP AND SING."

Ingraham exposes the outrageous howlers and muddled thinking peddled as wisdom by a rogue's gallery of Hollywood celebs, media yuppies, trial lawyers, multiculturalists, God-haters, and race-relations bullies who are exalted as heroes by the elite. Ingraham unmasks the shallowness of elite thinking everywhere it is found: in politics, the media, the ivory tower, arts and entertainment, and even business and international organizations.

Nor does she restrict her skewering of the elite only to its natural home, the Democratic Party -- she ably zeroes in on elite enclaves within the GOP as well.

A few of the ways that Laura Ingraham reveals the elites' true colors:

* How we got to the point where a significant percentage of the American population wants America to be torn down, tradition by tradition

* Six prevailing assumptions among the liberal elite: their diametric opposition to republican values and traditional morality

* Why the elites are obsessed with religion but unflaggingly "theophobic" -- and bent on eradicating religion from American life

* Six false beliefs that liberal elites hold about religion -- assumptions they're trying to foist onto the American people

* Three claims Ted Kennedy made in 1965 in arguing for relaxed immigration laws -- claims that have been proven false again and again in recent years (and we're still paying the price!)

* The appallingly stupid bureaucratic reason why the government releases nearly half of all deportable aliens after their hearings

* Hillary: why her career should remind us that "greed and liberalism go together like oppression and Communism"

* "Entertainer" Madonna: how she and other figures revered by the elites implicitly (and often explicitly) establish themselves as their own gods

* Howard Dean: how this darling of the liberal media suggested that he would compromise or tolerate an erosion of America's military supremacy

* How the elites use American respect for individual rights to block majority rule

* The central prejudice that unifies all the various factions of liberal elites

* The hollowness of the arrogant and patronizing Leftist posturing by famous entertainers

* The antiwar crowd: details that prove once and for all that they're really just anti-American

* Actors: how their training and entire life's work leads them inexorably to a liberal position

* The UN: why this darling of the elites desperately needs to be reformed, reconfigured, and reoriented

* How liberal business elites have made a mockery of the American traditions of hard work, thrift, and honesty

* Democracy be damned: astonishing remarks by Al Gore about who he thinks should really be ruling America

* The decay of public schools: why parents just shouldn't take it anymore -- and what they can do

* Why every American must fight to prevent the fulfillment of this prediction by Clinton's deputy secretary of state Strobe Talbott: "Within the next 100 years, nationhood as we know it will be obsolete. All states will recognize a single global authority"

* The larger implications of the Left's campaign to force us to check in with Big Brother every time we want to buy a Daisy air rifle at Wal-Mart

* The sad truth of Dennis Miller's observation that, during the Iraq war, the elites called every administration official "Hitler" -- but not Saddam Hussein, "the short guy with a mustache over there sticking people into wood chippers"

* Why unabashed patriotism makes many liberals angry, bitter, and belligerent

* How the Democratic Party has degenerated into a cool hangout for airheaded celebrities who look down on the working people who once made up the backbone of the Party

* "PeaceSpeak": an uproarious glossary of Leftist terminology

Did Laura Ingraham read my thread, I wonder?

I am convinced that most of the conservative talk show hosts and writers visit this site. If they do not do it much now, they will over time. FreeRepublic will be a National Review of sorts. It will be special to relate to our great grandchildren, "Yeah, I was there back is '00 using FreeRepublic the hard way...with a keyboard...not those darned ol speak-write thingies..." (sniff)

"a significant percentage of the American population wants America to be torn down, tradition by tradition"

I take exception to the word "significant" .. because from all the polling data I have ever read it appears to be about 37% of the American population who are the ones ripping down America.

Interestingly enough, that is about the same percentage who support Bill and Hillary Clinton. That should tell you something.

37% is significant. It may not be "majority", but it is still a large number.

Good observation, a large percentage like that implies the brainwashing runs very deep. The hazards of excessive tv watching were laughed at during the past three decades. The hazard wasn't in watching selected shows, it was all that garbage we watched while "nothing else was on".

The temptation to "gain insight" can sometimes fall along the parallel of "it was curiosity that killed the cat" ...never underestimate your brains cognizant ability to store information from any of the senses. The information you process as thought in the form of recall draws upon all of the brain's resources not only those you consciously choose to remember.

An interesting show was on recently which discussed how China utilized media for brainwashing. Speakers were set up in towns where most people gathered and communist propaganda was broadcast almost continually.

The human brain stores every thing it processes through the senses. Much of this info is stored in ones subconscience and is not a part of what one refers to as "short term memory". Certain sounds/smells/tastes are tied to these stored memories and can trigger what many refer to as de'je Vous. Sometimes you'll recall something you heard long ago and perceive it as your own thought.

Repeating an untruth over and over...a mantra can lead to a "belief" that it is somehow true. The number of times that something must be repeated to achieve this varies individually with no known pattern.

Well .. you're right - 37% is a fairly large number of people. I guess I had the word "majority" in mind when she said "significant".

You know the REAL reason why conservative women are 'babes' and liberals are 'hags'? It's a very good thing... for us.

It's because the Republican/conservative women you see in the media are YOUNGER. Younger women are better-looking than older women. (I'm 50, I know...) So give us older women a break -- we are not ugly, just gettin' OLD.

The good thing is -- this means that conservatism is hipper and cooler than liberalism! The liberal women you see are Baby Boom leftovers... the conservative ones are Gen X or younger. The tide is turning. Liberalism is starting to be seen as passe and dorky and stupid.

This one thing will do more to help conservative causes than any amount of logic, reason or eloquence could. The power of youth! The young Republicans will prevail. They will still be around when the Dem dinosaurs are dead...

Sing the lyrics below to the song: "I'd like to teach the world to sing" by clicking on the song and then sing along with the music:

I'd like to teach the world to sing

Lyrics by Doug from Upland:

Will-you please just shut up and sing...that's why we all are here

We don't care for your leftist tripe...I think we've made that clear

Will you please just shut up and sing...don't diss our president

He really does know more than you...that should be evident

Will you please just shut up and sing...that's why you're up on stage

We are not fans because we think that you are oh, so sage

That stuff doesn't ring...'cause you don't know a thing

Because of us, you've made big bucks...so just shut up and sing

Will you please just shut up and sing...don't speak so foolishly

We want to hear your music...that's why we bought your CD

Will you please just shut up and sing...it's time to entertain

You think you are so very smart...but all you are is vain

Will you please just shut up and sing...your words are such a crock

Take our advice or soon you'll find...that you're a laughingstock.
