Did Laura Ingraham read my thread, I wonder?
I am convinced that most of the conservative talk show hosts and writers visit this site. If they do not do it much now, they will over time. FreeRepublic will be a National Review of sorts. It will be special to relate to our great grandchildren, "Yeah, I was there back is '00 using FreeRepublic the hard way...with a keyboard...not those darned ol speak-write thingies..." (sniff)

"a significant percentage of the American population wants America to be torn down, tradition by tradition"
I take exception to the word "significant" .. because from all the polling data I have ever read it appears to be about 37% of the American population who are the ones ripping down America.
Interestingly enough, that is about the same percentage who support Bill and Hillary Clinton. That should tell you something.

37% is significant. It may not be "majority", but it is still a large number.

Good observation, a large percentage like that implies the brainwashing runs very deep. The hazards of excessive tv watching were laughed at during the past three decades. The hazard wasn't in watching selected shows, it was all that garbage we watched while "nothing else was on".
The temptation to "gain insight" can sometimes fall along the parallel of "it was curiosity that killed the cat" ...never underestimate your brains cognizant ability to store information from any of the senses. The information you process as thought in the form of recall draws upon all of the brain's resources not only those you consciously choose to remember.
An interesting show was on recently which discussed how China utilized media for brainwashing. Speakers were set up in towns where most people gathered and communist propaganda was broadcast almost continually.
The human brain stores every thing it processes through the senses. Much of this info is stored in ones subconscience and is not a part of what one refers to as "short term memory". Certain sounds/smells/tastes are tied to these stored memories and can trigger what many refer to as de'je Vous. Sometimes you'll recall something you heard long ago and perceive it as your own thought.
Repeating an untruth over and over...a mantra can lead to a "belief" that it is somehow true. The number of times that something must be repeated to achieve this varies individually with no known pattern.

Well .. you're right - 37% is a fairly large number of people. I guess I had the word "majority" in mind when she said "significant".

You know the REAL reason why conservative women are 'babes' and liberals are 'hags'? It's a very good thing... for us.
It's because the Republican/conservative women you see in the media are YOUNGER. Younger women are better-looking than older women. (I'm 50, I know...) So give us older women a break -- we are not ugly, just gettin' OLD.
The good thing is -- this means that conservatism is hipper and cooler than liberalism! The liberal women you see are Baby Boom leftovers... the conservative ones are Gen X or younger. The tide is turning. Liberalism is starting to be seen as passe and dorky and stupid.
This one thing will do more to help conservative causes than any amount of logic, reason or eloquence could. The power of youth! The young Republicans will prevail. They will still be around when the Dem dinosaurs are dead...

Sing the lyrics below to the song:
"I'd like to teach the world to sing" by clicking on the song and then sing along with the music: I'd like to teach the world to sing
Lyrics by Doug from Upland: Will-you please just shut up and sing...that's why we all are here
We don't care for your leftist tripe...I think we've made that clear
Will you please just shut up and sing...don't diss our president
He really does know more than you...that should be evident
Will you please just shut up and sing...that's why you're up on stage
We are not fans because we think that you are oh, so sage
That stuff doesn't ring...'cause you don't know a thing
Because of us, you've made big bucks...so just shut up and sing
Will you please just shut up and sing...don't speak so foolishly
We want to hear your music...that's why we bought your CD
Will you please just shut up and sing...it's time to entertain
You think you are so very smart...but all you are is vain
Will you please just shut up and sing...your words are such a crock
Take our advice or soon you'll find...that you're a laughingstock.
