It took less than 48 hours for Lambeau Field neighbors to go on the offensive.

Last week, the state Department of Revenue sent letters to residents living near Lambeau Field, warning them they would have to collect sales tax and pay income tax on the money they make from letting football fans park in their yards. Most of the residents got their letters Thursday and Friday, which told them they could be responsible for back taxes dating back to 1999.

The attitude of these folks should be: "hey, send me a bill!"

I saw this on local (Green Bay) TV. This was really outrageous. Not only did these people get these letters, but they were told they'd have to go back to 1999 and pay the tax on that revenue. It scared the living crap out of some of the people, including retirees. At least one elderly woman said she'd have to take out a loan to pay the tax.

A few hours later, the Wisco Dept. of Revenue started backing off and now they're really backpedalling. I hope Cowles get them to back off.
