SPIN BOLDAK, Afghanistan (Reuters) - An Afghan official said Monday 15 Taliban guerrillas, including a senior commander, had been killed in a clash involving U.S. forces in the south of the country.

"Fifteen Taliban were killed, including Mullah Abdur Rahim, in Maruf district," said Afghan Foreign Ministry official Khalid Khan Achakzai, speaking in the border town of Spin Boldak not far from the Pakistan frontier. Maruf is in Kandahar province.

He said the fighters killed in the Sunday night clash had probably come from the province of Zabul, where hundreds of rebels had been involved in clashes with Afghan troops and U.S.-led forces in recent weeks.

"They were trying to regroup and launch fresh attacks," he told Reuters.

Mullah Abdul Samad, an intelligence officer in the radical Taliban regime that was ousted from power in 2001, confirmed that there was a clash in Maruf, but denied the death of Rahim. Rahim is the Taliban commander for southern Afghanistan, where rebels have been most active in recent months.

The Afghan "Mullahs" are different. They lead the fighting. Cowards like OBL and Arafat direct others to die for the cause.

Different enemies.

just my opinion.

The anti-Bush liberal media can lie and spin all they want about America's successes on the war on terrorism. Just because President Bush isn't a braggart, like some other former president we know is, puffing up his chest everyday in front of the press saying I this, and I that, and I, I, I all the time, doesn't mean that Bush as CIC is 100% magnificent on combatting and taking down America's enemies.

USA, USA, USA!!!
