Governor's style breaks from predecessors' bipartisanship

THAT, Mr President, is a "new tone".

Could someone explain to me why Dallas has alway been thought of as a Republican city?

Because it is. Dallas has always been the GOP stronghold in Texas, and helped elect Republican John Tower back in the late 70s and 80s when Texas was voting for Democrats in record numbers.

Now, it's the Dallas suburbs that are Republican, with the City of Dallas itself doomed to majority minority status.

I met the governor this summer in a relaxed setting. He is entirely personable and warm. It's gonna be a hard sell for the Democrats to portray him as some sort of hardnose monster, especially since he gets out and mingles with the people so very well.

Governor Rick Perry giving awards to winners in each category at the 4K race in Dublin, Texas.

Depends on who they're selling to. Conservatives are not their clientele; we are their enemy. Their clientele will swallow this swill just like pigs at a trough. Hoping they choke on it.

And lest we forget, they have a powerful ally in the media, eh? Makes their sales job seem almost......legitimate.

Oh, that is a great pic, and I agree. The 'RATS wil try to make him out as a mean ole Republican in the next election. I remember reading about that event too. Do you have a link to the website about that event ? I'm thinking about uploading that pic and linking the event with it ...

Thanks !

The Houston Comical's op-ed this morning lamented the Republican's bipartisan spirit. More specifically, the Governor, Lt. Gov, and majority leader are guilty of ``canning the tar out of the decorum and bipartisanship that previously characterized the Texas Senate.'' I am chagrined by the editors opinion that a strategically retreating to another state serves as bipartisanism. Besides, before ten or twenty years ago, Texas bipartisanship consisted of a Democratic majority in the House, Senate, and Govenorship. Sore Loser never summed it up better.

The event was the 112th birthday of the world's oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant in Dublin, TX. I covered the day for Dr Pepper and have 100 pics of it in this folder http://public.fotki.com/valerieusa/dublin_dr_pepper/

"After almost three years, Texans finally know Rick Perry's game: He plays hardball."

Dang straight!
Perry has a mandate, given him by an overwhelming majority of Texas voters, to do things differently than they've been done before.
And he's doing it!
