So if evidence appears to contradict scripture, I chalk it up to my ignorance and am forced to accept the evidence at face value to maintain intellectual honesty. That is a fair statement :-)

There are no passages in Scripture, which ask us to blindly accept the Word, and to shut off our reason. In my opinion, God created intellect, and encourages us to explore both ideas, and our universe.
The free-will he gifted us with shapes our desire for creativity, and exploration.
You know the feeling or thought you have after watching an impacting movie. Something inside has fundamentally changed. I have been altered in a way that touches the spiritual side of my being. When we determine in our free-will to learn of the Creator he begins to continuously use the Bible to fundamentally change us similarly to an impacting movie.
This desire for fundamental change is not created by us, rather it is stimulated by the blessings that God reveals.
