Actually for the record Arnold has stated that he supported repealing SB60 from his own mouth on live interviews with Bill O'Reiley and Sean Hannity.

For the record, Arnold has also stated the following...

"Proposition 187 has been resolved by the courts. It is time to move on. More than 2.3 million undocumented immigrants currently live in California. They cannot continue to live underground. I will work with federal officials to address this problem."
Schwarzenegger Campaign Website - joinarnold.com

While opposing driver's licenses for illegal immigrants, he said there should be a way of dealing with undocumented immigrants, but that it's a complicated federal issue.

''Should we have them to stay here, which I think is the right way to do,'' he said. ''But how do you then include them in our society, how do you make it official, how do you make it legal, all of those kinds of things?''

He said he would seek to form a coalition with other states with heavy immigrant populations and lobby the federal government to deal with the issue.
Monterey Herald - August 28th, 2003

Schwarzenegger criticized Davis for signing a bill granting driver's licenses to undocumented immigrants, saying, "We're leaving ourselves wide open to terrorism." And he repeated his support for a guest-worker visa program -- "then they can (get) driver's licenses hooked together with insurance."
Sacramento Bee- September 9th, 2003

Arnold wants to legalize the Illegals, and then give them the drivers' licenses anyway.

First off I don't think that giving a driver's license to someone with amnesty is the same as providing someone with illegal status a driver's license. Amnesty requires a higher status of documentation and accountability. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe one of the provision in order to be granted amnesty is the need to apply for citizenship.

I have no problem with people applying for citizenship. If anything I find that immigrant whom have gone through the naturalization process to have a much higher degree of appreciation and respect for this country than many natural born citizens of this country. I understand that your going to argue that this comes off as rewarding those whom have entered the country illegally. And I agree with you it is. But it's better to have them documented and to have them go through the naturalization process in than to leave them as ghost on the radar. At least this adds a layer of accountability and it also requires them to learn the laws of this nation.

Because let's face it. Reagan provided amnesty because he most likely realized what a huge logistical politcal problem it would be to attempt to track down million of illegal immigrants. Arnold has probably come to the same term. McClintock is not going to round up the illegals that are already here and ship them back and I'll bet you any amount of dollars on that. Heck I would hazzard to say that if he were governor he might even be forced into providing amnesty at some point.

But here's the big difference. Both Tom and Arnold are looking at strategies to better secure the boarders. Both are looking at the Feds to provide a higher degree of accountability in protecting the boarders.

Neither Cruz Bustamante nor Gray Davis would ever be willing to provide those concessions. That's day and night if you ask me.
