There are two kinds of Bustamente voters. Those who vote for him directly and those who vote for him via McClintock.

While Arnie and his bros were off gang banging chicks and blowing opiated hashish me and my bros were off slogging rice paddies setting night ambushes for VC getting limbs blown off and then upon returning home getting spit on by college punks (now democrats) and hollywood types

No offense to you, but did you actually expect Austrian immigrants to come to the US in order to go to Vietnam? Do you have the same feelings for disgust for all the Olympic athletes from the late 60's and early 70s?

I respect what you and your friends did in Vietnam, but that doesn't make Arnold, or Mark Spitz, any less of a man.

On a related issue I had a wonderful discussion with my daughter last night about all the newsrooms and media outlets compiling all the information on prominent figures deaths before they are dead, or for that matter even sick....It's like a whole army is drafting your life's contributions for the use of breaking the story first when you go tits up.

What have we become?

It's just a fact that people are going to die, even famous ones. News organizations have always compiled information on celebrities. It doesn't necessarily even have anything to do with their dying. Whenever any news story breaks on that person, their bio is readily available so that it doesn't have to be researched in a rush.

And I guess that would apply to the VH1 Johnny Cash bit last night? Not quite a news organization......But I know what you mean. It's gone much farther than that.

I don't watch VH1 so I can't really comment on what they did. Did you consider it an exploitation of his death?

And while I don't think of them as a "news organization", I can understand that they would highlight music-related events. How bad was it?

Oh, it was good. Definately geared from start to finish on a dead guy though. Knowing about script writers, production budgets, compensated interviews and such, this stuff goes well beyond a service to the public and becomes a race for entertainment.

We are too much of an instant society and have no real issue horizon which lets issues ferment and be discovered in appropriate context. If we are told by Peter Jennings we will miss Johnny Cash, it's so. No time to reflect, consider, come up with our own perspectives. For we are fickle and the Afleck/Lopez issue may need to fill the space we made for Johnny Cash tomorrow.

If the Mercury news is so concerned about doting the eyes and crossing the tees on immigration law, do they think all these illegals in this country are not breaking the law? What is their opinion on letting illegals drive? The hypocrasy makes me sick.

Have you ever looked at http://www.deathclock.com/?

You answer a few questions, and it gives you your day of death.
They just informed me that I'm going to live to be 96 years old and die on Sunday, June 23, 2053.

I can live with that!

I wonder if everyone is going to die on June 23rd?

Or are you also born on the 13th?

The only way to post an opinion on the threat is to reply to somebody, usually the poster :)
Hmmm, I tend more towards Arnie. Bustamante CANNOT win!!! Click on my name and read my letter to the Governor if you are interested. :)
