—"I come from … a family of Zionists. My father’s Jewish. My mother’s Jewish. I’m Jewish." Cue the throat-slitting. And then they make the video available to the world. According to Mr. Lévy, one can buy it from vendors in front of certain mosques in Pakistan."

Then they slit his throat and they still don't want to believe it was because he was Jewish! Come on! All they wanted to hear was, was that he was a Jew and death to Jews is te message. Just as death to America for helping Israel and for Christians which are the infidele. It's noincidence that this tape is available in front to certain MOSQUES.

This guy is trying to profit from Daniel Pearl's murder with unsubstantiated claims of denial of the obvious.

This guy is trying to profit from Daniel Pearl's murder with unsubstantiated claims of denial of the obvious.

But he's a writer, and writers need to dramatize. He's bringing Pearl alive for a lot of people. I think Danny's life is starting to take on a sort of messianic quality, and regardless of the quality of information he obtained, his death turned the free world's attention toward the swirling cauldron of hatred brewing in Pakistan. In a sense, Lévy is trying to make sure Danny's death was for naught.

I also appreciate Lévy's reaffirmation of our friendship with France. As he himself is Jewish, one can understand why America's willingness to stand against anti-Semitism in the world is appealing to him. He also has a reputation for criticizing the left in France, evidently: To hell with other people George Walden reviews Sartre: The philosopher of the Twentieth Century by Bernard Henri-Lévy
