I am entirely satisfied that the terror org's were at various times funded, trained & aided by us ( the U.S. ), the Russians & the chicoms. All for good reasons. Such is the nature of the conflict we call the Cold War-it aint over, we will likely not see it's end.
If we did see it's end-that might be the last thing we would see. Unlikely since we are the best customers of the East-but there is the bad problem called Taiwan...& the 'lost face' which the ChiComs shall for-ever seek to re-gain.

Well you got me thinking, and since you raised that point a couple of weeks ago, I've started coming to some of the same conclusions you describe above.

There has got to be a heckuva lot of money, influence, and ideology coming in from sources other than wealthy Arabs. The Anglosphere (and western capitalism) has its own share of self-critics and maybe they're the loudest group of all. But there's a hard edge to the anger coming out of the college radio stations, the ANSWER and NION types. My suspicion: from Shining Path to the Hollywood, bucks are flowing in, and there are two massive hegemons who might be responsible. ChiComs come to mind, but the Russkies are not ready to give up.

America is unique in that we're spreading ideas of freedom and commerce instead of just raw power. The question is: just because we're right, does that mean the world has to like us? Maybe there's an automatic response, a kind of knee-jerk antigen that kicks off when one geopolitical group gains the upper hand.

My guess is that we've done enough good where we've been that this doesn't explain the massive amount of anti-American propaganda that's out there.
