[history]
Washington -- Like British soccer fans, Tom McClintock's hard-core conservative supporters sound like they would rather burn down the stadium than switch their loyalty to Arnold Schwarzenegger, even if it means losing California's governorship to someone who makes Gov. Gray Davis look like a Republican.

>>> less on the charisma front <<<
You seem to downplay this important quality.
Even Webster defines "charisma" as "a special quality of leadership that inspires."
It doesn't take good looks or sex appeal.
(Mother Teresa comes to mind)
It takes genuine joy.
Even our daughter (a new voter) who watched both Tom on H&C the other night and Arnold on O'Reilly observed
"Arnold looks so HAPPY" He looks like he WANTS to be governor.
His message of necessary "discipline" is resonating with young voters.
Don't you see the good in that?

Don't you see the good in that? No. It continues to encourage the sort of braindead thinking that brought us the likes of Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin and Bill Clinton. All charismatic figures. Sometimes ideas count the most.

I think you're confusing "charisma", a spiritual quality which inspires, with "charm", which can only mesmerize.
Charisma is passionate joy and gratitude.
Charm is just lust.

(Does CA need a Governor who can't check a box properly, even after 25 years of practice?)
