California State Assembly passes SB328 Free tuition for illegal aliens

SACRAMENTO (AP) _ A bill that would allow undocumented immigrants to apply for financial aid at California community colleges was approved by the state Assembly Thursday.

The bill, by Sen. Martha Escutia, D-Norwalk, would direct the board of governors to establish a process so students without legal immigration status can apply to have tuition waived.

It would require that the student attended high school in California for at least three years, obtained a diploma or an equivalent degree and, if the student isn't in the state legally, has applied to become a legal resident.

Opponents said the bill followed in the footsteps of the recently approved bill to allow illegal immigrants to get drivers licenses.

``Now we want to give financial aid in community colleges to illegal aliens?'' said Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy, R-Monrovia. ``Members, what is the matter with you?''

But supporters said the bill would help those students become educated members of the state's work force, helping the economy.

``We can continue to bury our heads in the sand and ignore it, but this helps kids who are in this state, who have graduated from high school, who we hope will go on to college, or learn a trade,'' said Assemblyman Joe Nation, D-San Rafael. ``It's the right thing to do politically, it's the right thing to do socially, and it's the right thing to do economically as well.''

The bill was approved on a 43-27 vote, returning to the Senate for approval of Assembly amendments.

Within twenty years California's dominant language will be Spanish; California government will be run primarily by Mexicophiles; the state will be third-world in virtually every respect

Absolutely right. And the business people who hired them to save a dime...will lose their businesses and property to confiscatory taxes imposed by the Mexican legislature, if not outright confiscation (think PEMEX in 1938, or Cruz Bustamante's proposal to "re-regulate" the power industry in California). And they will whine and cry, "but we OWN this!", and the Mexicans will say: not anymore, Gringo.

This is exactly what happened to the ranchos that the Californios owned after the Mexican-American war. Think they don't know or remember all that?

It'll be funny to watch. The morons who precipitated this "demographic change" will be the biggest losers.

There is an upside to this.

The battle cry of the anti-187 forces was, "a state can't make an immigration law!". They then proceeded to define an immigration law as anything that took someone's "immigration status" into account.

Well, isn't that what this law explicitly does? So, if a state can't make an immigration law, how come it just did?

"I did live in Cali, and left because of this nonsense." Me, too, and that was over 20 years ago, and I thought it was bad THEN! But now, it's just freaking INSANE!

Gee, that was still the "Golden Era". You just wouldn't believe it now!

Free tuition for illegal aliens? I am thinking of suing the State Of California to recoup the several thousand dollars I paid for my higher education. If they get it for free, I an American citizen, should be able to have the same advantage.

I'm right there with you. This is an absolute outrage! Those of us who paid high dollar tuition to advance ourselves, in order to support these parasitic blood suckers are literally on the receiving end of the proverbial toilet of these Marxists.

How do we fight back? are we helpless? Something's got to give...whether it be statewide, or ajoining states efforts to reclaim "Aztlan" as ours. Enough is enough.

Davis' new motto must be: "I going down, so I'm taking the state with me."

"Gray's Revenge"

Consider the wonderful things that will happen in the future when reversal of these measures is considered...

Idaho. Just returned from purchasing a home. We were only gone a week, yet traumatized upon return by culture shock.

How do we fight back?

That's easy. Have anyone from out of state who applies to a California school to sue the state for an abridgement of his 14th amendment Equal Protection Rights. If the state is treating citizens in a manner that is inferior to non-citizens, the 14th has been violated.

His failure to protect our borders is just one of a score of reasons by I chucked the Republican Party.

Ditto. The majority of them are just as bad as the Rats when it comes to illegal immigration. They're a bunch of prostitutes for votes.

Are you retired? Self-employed? Did you find a job or will you when you arrive in Idaho?

the flipflopping can be attributed to inexperience in the arena or it is a sign that winning is more important than governing and he is looking for a message instead of leading from conviction.

Idaho. Just returned from purchasing a home. We were only gone a week, yet traumatized upon return by culture shock.

My sister moved up there to the CDL area in July, and never looked back.

I escaped the cesspool in '92, and just now got my Mom out. We're all "safe," within our refugee status (although AZ is getting questionable now...).

Good luck with your move.

Excellent suggestion, and it bears repeating.

What's next, a state holiday to celebrate mexico's glorious victory at the alamo?

While I appreciate your irony, we already have a Mexican holiday here, Cinco de Mayo, that's celebrated as widely as the 4th of July. It marks the victory of the Mexican Army over the French at the Battle of Puebla. It's not an official state holiday but it might as well be because all the schools observe it with big fiestas as do most California communities .

What is disgusting is that the liberals don't even have to dig up any dirt on Tom, just run a list of bills that passed the State Senate and State Assembly while he was there.

Nice try. At the current 15 to 25 GOP to Dem disadvantage the only way McClintock could've had any effect on the goofiness in the state sentate would be to start packing heat to work.

California has made the conscious decision to become a part of Mexico

OK, so if ilegal criminals are voting in mass in California, then California no longer has a valid place in the 2004 United States of America Presidential Election.

Bu By California, and good luck on maintaining your own roads.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
