CA: GOP faithful to push McClintock to quit

What better time to re-introduce Reagan conservatism to the California voters than now. They are going to the polls to end the Davis disaster and choose a new direction.

I agree that there may not be a better time. What's so disappointing is that McClintock is stuck in the low teens notwithstanding this. My fellow CA voters are mostly serfs and lunatics.

Here are a few of the areas where Bush and Arnold differ:

Bush.........pro-life; Arnold......pro-abortion;
Bush.........anti-more gun control; Anold....pro-more gun control;
Bush.........pro-tax cuts; Arnold....anti-tax cuts, and will raise taxes quite readily;
Bush.........pro-traditional marriage; Arnold....pro-"domestic partnerships" with all the benefits of traditional marriage;
Bush.........anti-drug legalization; Arnold pro-legalization of some drugs;

I said Arnold is way to the left of Bush, and he is; I did not say he was so far to the left as to be a Boxer or a Hildabeast or a Schumer or a Fineswine, or a Davis or a Busta-Mecha.

You've misstated Arnold's positions on a number of issues. Why do you guys have to do this? Here's the run down.

Abortion - Arnold against PBA and for parental notification. Bush may talk but otherwise has done nothing in this area. Tie

Gun Control - Arnold is for existing laws. Bush has done nothing to roll back existing laws. Arnold wants to track gun show sales. Bush slight advantage

Taxes - Bush cuts taxes but behind incredible spending increases. Not a fiscal conservative. Arnold will roll back vehicle tax, approve no new taxes and will streamline government, provide incentives to bring busnesses back. He is pro-Prop 13 and endorsed by the Jarvis Tax group. Advantage Arnold.

Same-sex marriage. Bush and Arnold both say marriage is between a man and a woman. Arnold says what you do in bedroom is your own business. Even.

Drugs. Arnold is for the laws passed by the people of California. Bush thinks Feds can overrule states on drug laws, violating the 10th amendment. Advantage Arnold.

Immigration. Bush is pro-illegal immigration and amnesty, and makes speeches in Spanish. Arnold is pro-Prop 187 and anti-illegal drivers licenses. Arnold says immigrants must work through the legal system, like he did. Advantage Arnold.

As we can see, Arnold is very similar or to the right of Bush on most of these issues.

Moreover, I think you's reabout the only person on this thread, or on FR, who thinks GWB is to the left of Arnold. You have misstated, or misrepresented, much of your "analysis" of the two men. To say that Bush is only slightly more conservative than Arnold on the gun issue is palpably laughable. And you say that GWB and Arnold are "even" in their respective positions on abortion? Are you smoking crack? GWB is pro-life and against abortion, whereas Arnold is pro-choise, and only opposes PBA (which 85% of Americans also oppose, the extreme leftists notwithstanding) Taxes? Here again you are wrong. Bush is staunchly for cutting taxes; I have not heard Arnold say he would cut any teaxes, except for California's 3X car tax, which virtually the entire state is against, anyhow. And while Bush is more of a spender than I thought he would be, Arnold loves wasting money on "feel good" socialist practices (baby-siting students from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the taxpayers' expense? That smacks of the Toon's midnight basketball program.

When it comes to politicians, I'm more interested in actions than words. I'm a supporter of GWBush. I think he's a good and honest man. I also think his politics are to the left of mine and very similar to Arnold's on a number of issues.

Bush talk on abortion and guns means little if, despite controlling congress, he does nothing to change the status quo. Giving us a modest tax rebate yet proliferating entitlements and spending does little for me. Bush has done nothing to stop illegal immigration despite the threat from foreign terrorists.

You were the first person on these threads that I saw compare Arnold with Bush. That's why I responded. Arnold is also to the left of me, and I find him to be very similar to Bush in overall effect. I think Arnold will cut taxes but also increase spending. He will have absolutely no impact on abortion or gun control in this state, just as Bush has had no impact nationally.

BTW, Arnold is very close to the senior Bush, who endorsed him last week and sent him a contribution.

Well, if GWB isn't left of Arnold he's sitting next to him in the same car. I support both of these guys but they are too left for my taste on many issues. I like Tom McClintock and wish he was our governor, but as I stated in another post I believe many non-Californians (and many California Republicans) don't fully understand the wacked-out, leftist demographics in this state. God bless Tom McClintock but he ain't gonna win a statewide election.

I, also, favor McClintock. And I agree with you, he cannot win a state-wide election in California, which has become a bastion of leftist extremism.
