A necessary dose of brutal honesty as McClintock continues to climb in the polls.

Exactly the kinds of things I was thinking about when I posted yesterday that Arnold being elected could turn into a complete nightmare.

This looks like a duplicate post, but its not. Same Title and same author but the one from the Prowler is substantialy different.

An intelligent editorial. Thanks for posting it. Let's see if an intelligent conversation can follow as a result of it.

I lived through those years as a grassroots activist. Kurzweil has hit the nail on the head.

Republicans speak for those oppressed and abused by the Democrats’ special interests: unborn babies, taxpayers, pro-family activists, freedom loving patriots, business owners and their employees, home schoolers, religious believers, families, young people looking for economic opportunities, seniors looking for secure retirements, kids and parents in the Boy Scouts, anyone who likes to drive a car or own a home — in a phrase: ordinary Californians, the people. Pete Wilson forgot that, giving us our one-Party state. Reverting now to opportunism while forgetting about people will cost more than it will gain.

Big bump.

And if this unnerves Karl Rove, so much the better. He must continue to take into account the so-called "right wing crazies" that Arnold loathes, but which form the activist core of the Republican base.

It serves the national interests of the White House and east-coast Republicans who believe Mr. Schwarzenegger offers their best chance of reading “GOP Retakes California Governorship” in the Washington Post and New York Times October 8, with the implication of dismay and demoralization for national Democrats and national momentum for the president and his Party on the eve of his re-election campaign. But the details for those of us actually living in California under a liberal GOP administration fall outside those concerns.

Excellent article!

Good article.

I wish I had two bits for every time I've heard someone say 'I'd like to vote for McClintock but he can't win'. A self fulfilling prophecy if there ever was one, enabled by groupies in our own ranks.

Especially frustrating because current conditions make this the best opportunity to elect a real conservative governor since Reagan.

had it not been for Darrell Issa’s generosity and foresight, the recall would have been left to fail for want of a cash investment relatively small considered against the vast resources routinely poured into California politics.

Sad but true. Money is the great enabler and Gray's secret weapon.
Gray is becoming increasingly confident at the stupidity of the California voter, cause he still has tons of money.

Worked for him last time.

That is why for me it is either McClintock or Bustamante.
A quick death, or a slow one with Arnold. What a choice!

The $60 billion debt doesn't matter.
Continued deficit spending is not important.
Our disintegrating highways don't mean much.
Increased spending by a runaway legislature shouldn't concern anybody.
California bonds being considered "junk bonds" is insignificant.
Funding pervert parades and memorials is critical to the future of California.
Continuing to encourage illegal immigration and throwing money at criminals is a critical state function.

Did I leave anything out?

What a joy to read your post and I agree with you wholeheartedly. There is, however, one thing I do not want to see happen and that is the continued current status quo with respect to Davis and the Democratic hold on this state. Yes, I believe that McClintock would be better as governor than Schwarzenegger but I am ruling nothing out here. This election is fast and furious and my main thought is that my greatest dissapointment would be to see conservatives chew each other up while the liberals laugh all the way to victory. I sure wish we, on the conservative side, could work together. Maybe then, we could make headway in this state.

When the nearly 30 year old Ahnold was gangbanging that gym whore
and made the statement dengegrating those who werent "man enough"
to participate

I was reminded of gang rapes..and the brutality needed to do such a thing to a young girl...

A man's character is reveled far before the age of 30...I saw 19yr olds who refused to engage in such things in SE Asia...they to were harrased by guys like Arnold...

Does Arnold have the right stuff to be a decent honorable governor of California....
I have my doubts.....but he is an actor so he try an can act like one...and in the end that is what counts..only God can judge a man's heart or intent

But Bustamante is far far worse....and that is the only choice there is....

Tom is the right man for the job...compared to everyone else...and would be a great governor if the people and legislators would allow him to be...

Right now...there arent enough of either to get him elected..even if Arnold withdraws and asks people to vote for McClintock...would he have a realistic chance of beating Bustamante?

Can the conservative people of Ca. afford to take that risk?

Tom and Republicans can put Arnold on a short leash if they so desire...the Democrats in power in the legislature will give Arnold enough grief anyway...unless he bows to their desires...

With Arnold you get...
Some Abortion
Some Guns
Some immigrants
Some taxes
Some business

With Bustamante you get
The worst you can imagine

It will interesting to see what California Republicans do if all polls indicate a third place finish for McClintock a day or two before the election.

This is exactly the same situation that Gore was in during the 2000 election. Remember the begging of Nader supporters to not throw the election to Bush?

A substantial number of Nader supporters heeded the pleas, and Nader's support dropped by something like 50% by election day.
