McClintock Offered a Deal from Arnold Camp?
Belly of the Beast Blog ^ | September 11, 2003 | Eric Hogue

I'm hearing from a 'solid source' that State Senator Tom McClintock has been offered a deal by the Arnold Schwarzenegger camp.

From what was offered to me, McClintock would become a State Controller by proxy - heading up a blue ribbon committee - overseeing the audit of the state's budget and financial matters.

Political polls on elections just weeks away tend to be more accurate than sports polls, particularly based on a Super Bowl two or three years down the road.

It's entirely reasonable to believe that McClintock stands a snowball's chance in hell of winning this election, and that his refusal to remove himself from the race could very well hand the election to a Democrat.

You are apparently comfortable with that. Good for you.

I guess you totally missed the point to be attributing all this Democrate talk to me (again) that's all you guys got really...

There aren't sports polls, the analogy is that you are making a very bold prediction in saying (R)nold is better for the CA GOP than Bustamante or supporting McClintock. Note to self, you already have prophesized, its just when push came to shove, you didn't answer the question. It speaks volumns about your character.

It was in reference to you connecting the state race to the national scene.

The Republican Party at the national level has taken an officially neutral stance, if I have the right impression. Dittoes for Pres. Bush.

Beyond that, the RNC regularly calls for more donations, even in California.

However, the thing that most concerns Californians is the local economy and the tax bite. (well, illegal aliens, gun control, and so on are other hot button issues too.)

The problem is that the stuff the RNC telemarketers babble about when they make their calls is invariably not the kind of stuff Californians are most concerned about.

So when anyone makes a claim that Californians should take a bullet just so GWB can get re-elected or some other similar selfish reason, it causes me to chuckle.

Sorry if I ragged on you in particular. I doubt it is any one person's fault or under any one person's control, but it does give rise to some irony IMHO.

OK?

How is it a violation of "fairness" to point out that a candidate doesn't have the organization, the infrastructure, the money, or the popularity to be elected to the office he seeks? To point out that the emperor has no clothes is not being "unfair," it is possibly preventing one from exposing one's bare butt in public next time.

I don't think anyone in California does not realize that getting the right person in place to make a positive difference will not involve a huge battle, probably against most of the odds.

But hey, there's that guy Goliath over there, standing in the front of his Philistine army of overwhelming numbers.

Goliath is strong as an ox! He is almost 10 feet tall! One by one, our soldiers decline to fight him, declaring that the odds are against them, he will slay them! He has the power, the organization, the numbers to WIN!!!!! No one should even bother to challenge him, for they are certain to LOSE!!!!

I suppose you would say ... the odds are overwhelming. Let them win without a contest, and things will go easier for us all...

I just hope I did not misunderstand the gist of your argument...

LOL - you are a riot. This, coming from you (an individual who seems to have absolutely no reservations about lying and smearing people), is simply beyond hilarious.

Hmmm, I'm lying about his tax increases, yet you are the one who refuses to vouch for him not raising them. Black is white and white is black.

The war is scheduled for October 7. Don't hamstring David by making him fight a cage match with 2 of his closest lieutenants before that date.

No, Detective Fife, that is not the lie I was referring to - but if the shoe fits, fine.

It's not my job to back up what someone else says. He said it, and he's either going to keep his promise or he isn't. You just can't wrap your mind around that, can you? LOL

That's because I'm an idiot.

Thanks!
