The US must maintain the position that this would be counterproductive. ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT ENDORSE THIS.
However, it may quietly clap in the background when the deed is done.
Israeli and US foreign policy is not the same. It can't be. We occupy different chairs with very different obstacles and responsibilities.
Israel alone must take responsibility for removing Arafat, and Israel is obviously prepared to do it alone.
It's part of the plan, and I'm quite sure that Israel understands that the US must maintain plausible deniability in the decision.

Let Israel remove all islamic palis from Israeli land and send these terrorists packing to islamic land like Jordan (where 80% of residents are palis), Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Libya, etc. Then clean up Israeli Gaza and West Bank with detergent and disinfectant and make it habitable for Israelis.

Nice post!
The time has come for the gloves to come off. How many more suicide bombers must Israel have to deal with before she responds with great fury?

Israel has expelled Arafat before. Were sanctions proposed then? I really don't remember.
But, of course we would have to veto it if it really came to a vote. Our stated reasons for doing so would never be an endorsement of the Israeli action. We'd make up some other excuse.

Except there is this probable UN resolution that will be proposed by France ordering sanctions on Israel for taking out Arafat -- in your scenario, would we abstain or veto? What difference does it make...Israel hasn't bothered to comply with a UN resolution in years.

The headline is almost as big a lie as McClintock can't beat Bustamante. Only Arnold can turn many Freepers into flat out liars. Sad, but that is what happens when you want to win at all costs.

expel Yasser Arafat from his headquartersIs this Hurricane Israel one of those class five storms we're reading about on another thread? I expect this is the first Class Five we've seen since March in the Middle East.

Easy there! Mentioning California in an Arafat thread could have disastrous and unforeseen consequences...

The implementation of this decision will not only explode the Palestinian territories but the entire region," said Mr Qureia, popularly known as Abu Ala About time things started exploding there instead of just inside Israeli cities...

When your enemies are in a state of permanent outrage, and when your enemies are sworn to your destruction, there is no room for them to ramp up their outrage to any newer, higher, level. Once you have reached the point of sending your children to their deaths to kill your neighbors' children, what higher level of psychosis is there for you to aspire to? Well said! Mind if I quote you?
