Sorry, you're wrong about more law students from Tech passing the bar the first time around. Way wrong. The Texas Board of Law Examiners reports the following:
July 2002, Texas Tech - 84.33%, behind Baylor, SMU, U of H, and UT.
July, 2001, Texas Tech - 89.1%, behind Baylor, U of H, and Texas.
July, 2000, Texas Tech - 86.57%, behind Baylor, U of H, and Texas.

You are absolutely right about the first time bar exam results. I put my SO in the doghouse for telling me that, but I think I know what he must have seen. The B of LE shows 2 months for each year--February and the July statistics you had. In February of 2000 100% of Tech first time exam takers passed. That was the highest total for that testing period. He said he read it in a media guide which I am assuming he got at a football game in the fall 2000 season.
I have been enlightened by you and appreciate the clairification. I cannot post the link for Feb.2000, but it is exactly the same page you were linking to for the July scores. :) P.S. He got out of the doghouse pretty fast because he's a great SO and neither of us want to tell a whopper on purpose--there's enough of those floating around the media right now to last a lifetime.
