I've been a rock 'n' roll fan........as well as a rock guitarist........for decades. I never "got" Springsteen. The guy just does nothing for me whatsoever. I find his music pedestrian, cliche', and...................well, boring.

In modest defense of Springsteen (his music), while the "Born to Run" album may seem pedestrian today, you have to reflect on the fact that it was released in 1975. At that time, his sound was at least a decade ahead of its time.

At the risk of receiving counter-battery fire for saying so, I like Springsteen's music. Not all of it, but most of it. I think Born to Run is a fantastic album, and Nebraska was one of my favorites.

That said, I have a little trouble buying his politics. His "down and out working man" appeal went out the window after his first couple of million $. I agree that he should just shut up and sing. I didn't pay $50 to hear political speeches so just play Thunder Road and I'll promise not to torch the T-shirt stand on the way out the door.

"I find his music pedestrian"

That is too funny. was your pinky finger extended when you typed that?

I have seen the Boss since '78 (not this tour) Have spent one night drinking with him, meet Little Steven and other E-Streeters and must say they are great guys. I do not agree with their politics but that is not important to Me.

Springsteen is one of the best. If you do not like him that is fine. I do not like jazz but I know it is still good music. Darkness on the Edge of Town is one of my favorite records ever.

The Rising is the best work produced with regards to 9/11. It is definitive and moving.

Sounds like he pads his shows with a number of covers too. I've seen Barry & The Remains (who wrote Don't Look Back, Diddy Wah Diddy was just a song they convered that was written by Bo Diddly/Willie Dixon) and more importantly, Los Angeles band The Standells (who sang Dirty Water among other Ed Cobb songs).

I'd take any of those acts any day.
