I found this on a website with lots of poems and stories of Firefighters and such:

Fateful Day

As the sirens blared
The cloud of dust rose
From the fateful towers,
People screaming,
People dying,
As the rigs arrive,
In the midst of carnage,
Valiantly, like knights In shining armour,
They charge into the towers
Emotions in the back pocket
Their lives left at home,
To do their jobs,
The jobs they love,
People trapped,
Ghostlike figures stumble down past them,
But they continue to advance
Higher and higher,
To rescue what ever life was left,
As the tower began to collapse,
They still charged forwards,
With the knowledge,
People were still trapped,
Hoping to save their life,
They gave their lives so that many could live,
The family left behind,
Crying, saddened, but with a smile,
They proudly say,
He was a fire fighter,
He paid the ultimate price,
But died doing what he loved.
