Arnold has been a dedicated Republican for longer than some Freepers....

who is pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-gay rights -- and yet to identify a single cut he'd make in the state's deficit-ridden budget -- Schwarzenegger would put a new face on the Republican Party from coast to coast.

Here are some great quotes on his positions:

"I'm for choice," he said when asked about abortion on Fox TV's "The O'Reilly Factor" in May 2001. "The women should have the choice. The women should decide what they want to do with their bodies. I'm all for that."

On guns, he told a Berkeley-based youth radio station last year: "I don't run around every day with a gun in my hand. So I want kids to understand the difference; one is make believe, like we do in the movies. But in reality, I'm for gun control. I'm a peace-loving guy."

And on gay rights, he told Cosmopolitan magazine, "I have no sexual standards in my head that say 'this is good' or 'this is bad.' Homosexual -- that only means to me that he enjoys sex with a man and I enjoy sex with a woman. It's all legitimate to me."

Reagan himself signed into California law an abortion bill and a gun control bill... he also tolerated homosexuals in his social circle and sleeping together in his home.

By your standards, you would have recalled him and he would have spent his career as a dogcatcher.

As far as Arnold's social stances, as much as you guys wish differently, he is MODERATE. He is pro-choice, yes, but anti-partial birth abortion and supports parental notification. Not exactly the NOW platform, is it?

He is pro-guns, but not all the NRA way. He does support the Brady Bill and the assault weapon ban.... but so does the majority of California. He is already to the right of current gun law in the state, and is not drooling to snatch away your pretty pistols.

Yes, he is not anti-gay... but neither is a full rainbow in that he opposes gay-marriage. Again, not exactly the ideal leftie, is he?

---

He is a long-time fiscal conservative with credentials proving that going back 20 years in his friendship and public support of Nobel Laureate libertarian economist Milton Friedman... credited with the philosophy behind Reagan and Thatcher economics. He is endorsed by EXTREMELY reputable conservative voices and institutions that you folks ignore because facts disturb your preferred reality. Stop blowing smoke, it's getting mighty tiresome.
