"Look, ever since music became a saleable commodity there has been really bad stuff that has sold well. But you know that. Once the number crunchers took over the business overall quality of product has steadily declined. A quick look at the charts will tell you that."

Bahhhh!
--------------

"Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar
You're gonna fly high, you're never gonna die
You're gonna make it if you try, they're gonna *love* you!
Well I've always had the deepest respect, and I mean that *most* sincerely
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think
Oh by the way, which one is *Pink*?

-And did we tell you the name of the game, *boy*?
-We call it 'Riding The Gravey Train'
We're just *knocked* out!
You gotta get an album out!
You owe it to the people!
Ohhh we're so happy we can hardly count!
Have you seen the charts?
Its a helluva start
It could be made into a *moster* if we all pull together as a *team*!

-And did we tell you the name of the game, *boy*?

Get it?

"I've been waiting for this rap/hip hop thing to die for ten years now. What passes for R&B now has gotta make guys like Curtis Mayfield and the Isley Brothers cringe. Same goes for reggae."

Yup, me too; but, I'm not a musician, either.
Because if I were I sure in the hell wouldn't be "waiting" for anything to "die"; never mind, waiting ten years.
I'd have been forging my *own* style & if I were successful, they'd have come looking for me.
Fact.

"The good musicians haven't disappeared, they're just underground. Norah selling records gives us hope."

Well *where* "good musicians" are is what this entire discussion's been all about, eh?
Norah's sales are a good sign in a sea of red ink & downloadable MP3 files; but, let's not forget that Blue Note grabbing hold of her didn't hurt, either.
Interesting too, when one considers BN appears to be actively trying to replenish their stable of aging (or dead) artists.

"I'd burn you a copy of her record if I could. My computer's a dinosaur..."

HA!!
Well then stay the *hell* away fro Roxio's "Easy CD Creator 6.0," that's all I can say.
Man-oh-man that's some buggy stuff & if it causes fits for my new 2G *rocketship* Dell, then it'll make a mess of anything less.

...and so am I."

Whaaaaatttttttt??
Gimme a break, young man. {g}

"I'll gladly reimburse you if you don't like it."

Naw.
Just the postage it'll cost me to send it to ya will be good enough. ;^)

"She sat in with a friend of mine last month and I got to hang with her for a while."

...which answers the question I asked you in private.

Whoa!

Perhaps EXPECTING is a better choice of words.

I made the decision to be a musician at age 15(5 years after I started playing) and haven't stopped since. Hell, you know know my routine.

BTW.

One of the greatest indictments of the industry.

Too, bad Waters is a socialist.

Love the music, though.
