BASALT — Steve Irwin of the Omni at Interlocken captured the title of the 2003 CGA Mid-Amateur Championship at the Roaring Fork Club in Basalt on Sunday.
Irwin, son of PGA star Hale Irwin, carded a third round of 1-over par 73, which gave him a three-day total of 216. Bill Fowler of Rolling Hills Country Club held onto second place carding a final round 74. Fowler finished the tournament at 3-over 219.
Scott Peterson of Denver Country Club carded a final round 68 to finish tied in third place at 224 with Chuck Schmidt of the Heritage at Westmoor.
