Bear something in mind. The car bomb is the tool of the weak. Notice that the Ba'athists and the local Al Qaeda have lost their stomach for attacking American soldiers directly. One of the things the libs won't tell you is that our guys inflicted severe casualties on Ba'athist ambushers, especially the Marines. The Army is now following the Marine example of directly engaging ambushers by going after them as they try to ambush, instead of speeding the convoy up and attempting to run away. As the ambush tactic loses its effectiveness, the car bomb tactic will increase in utility.

There is very little that can be done to eliminate car bombs. Intelligence and covert direct action is the only thing that can start plinking off these guys one by one.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

"Anyway, it is bad over there and Im lost as to why we are doing this."

Sounds as if you're lost because you've spent a little too much time over at DU. I see you joined FreeRepublic September 9, 2003. Stick around and maybe we can clear things up for you. In two days we gather together to mourn and remember over 3000 people, mainly Americans, murdered by Islamic terrorists. If that's not a good enough reason 'as to why we are doing this,' I suggest you head back over to DU.

We are doing this because there is no alternative but victory.

Should we fail in this enterprise, Al Qaeda will set its sights on America once again. As of now, it is still on the defensive. Should we adopt a "Maginot" defense, such as the Dems, the Libertarians, and the Brigadiers suggest, we will of necessity cede the initiative to the Al Qaeda.

This war above all wars is worth the candle. I can think of no greater cause than to go forward and destroy our enemies before they destroy us.

Anyway, it is bad over there and Im lost as to why we are doing this.

The first thirty minutes on Omaha Beach were a lot, lot worse.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

In Iraq, Bush wants victory against terrorists there. In relationship to Israel, Bush believes the opposite, at the expense of Jews being murdered every week.

When will the madness end?

6 US Defense Dept Personnel Injured In Irbil,Iraq Blast

IRBIL, Iraq (AP)--A car bomb exploded outside an office used by U.S. soldiers in northern Iraq late Tuesday, killing one Iraqi and wounding six Americans, the U.S. military said. Another 41 Iraqis were injured.

The wounded included children from nearby houses and Iraqi Kurdish guards. Firefighters battled to put out car fires at the scene of the blast in Irbil, the largest city in Kurdish-controlled northern Iraq.

Staff Sgt. Shane Slaughter, U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, said that the six injured Americans were Department of Defense personnel. He did not say if they were military or civilian.
He said that the military was investigating the bombing, which occurred at 10: 05 p.m. There were no claims of responsibility.

U.S. soldiers flew to the site by helicopter and cordoned off the area together with local Iraqi Kurdish fighters, reported CNN-Turk, a Turkish subsidiary of U.S.-based CNN.

A Turkish reporter at the scene said by telephone that the blast collapsed the front of the two-story building. He said that most of the injured were from nearby houses.

Television footage showed Kurdish women wailing and men running in panic with a burning car behind them. A Kurdish man could be seen carrying a toddler with a bleeding head in his arms.

The footage also showed the four-wheel-drive vehicle that apparently carried the bomb was intact but badly burned. Its chassis was in one piece.

Authorities in Irbil, about 200 miles north of Baghdad, called to residents over loudspeakers to donate blood for the wounded, CNN-Turk said.

Northern Iraq has been the most stable part of the country since the ouster of Saddam Hussein.

200 million people in this country are questioning the decision to go into Iraq? Get real. Only if you believe the likes of Peter Jennings. There's not one nugget of truth to your "explanation"for me to understand what you're trying to get at, other than to portray the Bush administration as liars.

We are getting these guys in great numbers, while very few of our own are killed or wounded per month in Iraq.

Freepers should know by now to verify anything coming from the mainstream press re. the war (including FoxNews). The press has been misrepresenting the situation on the groundin Iraq from the beginning. Our guys are kicking enemy butt and winning hearts daily - and have been.

This story is not yet up at CENTCOM or DoD. I'd question any story until you hear from those who know that careless words endanger the troops.

Incidentally, we last lost a US soldier to hostile acts on Sept. 1 - across a nation the size of California with ~ 130,000 US troops currently on the ground. Yes, we've taken out MANY bad guys this week.

So you are saying that the Iraqi terrorists are starting to adopt the remote-control and suicide tactics of the Chechen and Kashmiri terrorists?

They haven't discussed it, to my knowledge, in a while.

I've been watching the debates and leaving the room during commercials.

Agree, agree, agree! I get e-mails from those actually on the ground in Iraq and we are making MAJOR headway! The major alphabet networks do a major disservice to our troops and they should be ashamed of themselves. BTW, a "FReeper" verifying this information today joined on September 9, 2003. Whoops, that's today, isn't it?

Chris, very well said, and worth the bump.

Isn't FR great?! Click on my Freepname. We have a small army on the homefront finding, and sharing news for the troops. The Generals keep repeating themselves and the mainstream reporters still choose to follow the NY Times - even now.

Thanks Ragtime Cowgirl! What a goldmine of good news from our brave troops on the frontlines. I'll contribute some letters tomorrow. This is what Americans NEED to see. Not some wild speculation from a DU'er tonight that 200 million Americans want answers. Yeah right. Sorry bud, 150 million Americans already have the answer and it's as plain as the nose on our faces. That the other 50 million or less morons don't get 'it' is a shame to our educational institutions run by the liberal left and the VRWC media (sarcasm-the media part anyway). Plus, I think about 30-40 million of them are just apathetic slobs anyway. That said. Go USA military! My dad served in the USAF, brother in the Army and cousin currently serving in the Army in Iraq. Islamofascists beware, we've got your number!
