Riefenstahl used her incredible talents in the service of evil, of that there is little doubt. Exactly right. And her "talent" will forever be tarnished by the fact that she served to promote the agenda of one of the monsters of men, hence she has the blood of thousands and thousands on her hands. I am sure she's boiling in Hell, as we speak. :)

Her big act of contrition was to become an eco-filmaker and swim with the porpoises and share in the brotherhood of all living sea creatures. She went from one extreme to the other, a trademark of a zealot or someone with no moral center. Her talent was extraordinary, but as Orwell used to say about Dali, what a revolting person!

she has the blood of thousands and thousands on her hands. That's a stretch ... She no more has blood on her hands for glorifying Nazism than Tchaikovsky has for celebrating the Russian victory at Moscow. Artists are often paid to glorify their patrons. The measure of their ability isn't the beauty of the subject, but how well they succeed in their task. At that, Riefenstahl was a virtuoso.
