What I don't understand is WHY?
What is he trying to prove? Why fast for 44 days? And why in a box suspended above the street? Why not fast in the privacy of his home? The whole thing sounds really stupid to me.

I think he's just trying to get some time away from his wife. It's not like she's good looking or anything...

The whole thing sounds really stupid to me. He has a contract with one of the British television channels. He's doing it for money.
