FREMONT -- A 41-year-old Fremont man whose dog was shot by police officers when they forcibly entered his house looking for marijuana plants has a prescription from his doctor to use pot and a certificate from the Oakland Cannabis Cooperative allowing him to grow and possess it, according to documents obtained by ANG Newspapers. Robert Filgo and his wife, Yvette Filgo, 38, were arrested Tuesday night after seven police officers served a search warrant at their Niles home and found 79 plants in the back yard and garage.

He's self-employed in the high-tech industry, calibrating quality-control equipment.

I've heard you have to get just the right amount of light, temperature, and humidity for pot to grow well indoors.

"I can't work," he said. "They have my computer with my customer list and billing information."

I wonder if his customers also eat oreos and nachos all day while watching cartoons.

The first three shots awoke Mrs. Filgo, who came out of the bedroom, While that was going on.

Oh sure, everytime I hear gunfire in my home, I walk right out into the line of fire because I'm curious.

Given the cops heavy handedness in my view here.

I wonder if anyone knows how many cops have been wounded or killed by pot growers over the years as opposed to vice versa?

Copperhead Road notwithstanding, I have never found pot growers or anyone in the US pot trade to be particularly violent such as in the meth or coke business. I'm sure there are exceptions but it seems like cops have adopted the Powell doctrine of overwhelming force for any police action unless it involves policing one of their own.

Here in Nashville a few years back an estranged from his wife (also a cop) cop found her and another cop en flagratto at the lovers house and he went postal and shot up the neighborhood at precisely the time kids were coming home from school. The local Swatjocks let him fire off rounds in everyone's direction for hours till they talked him down. Today, they will put scores of bullets into someone who even brandishes an edged weapon at them from a distance and recently here shot and killed an X dealer (a college student) who tried to escape from an undercover buy in his car.

Some cops need to take some chilling out training. Are all cops now de facto SWAT?

And to think they won't even come to my businesses for burglaries or roust the local varmint kids repsonsible unless I shoot one of them...then they will come to arrest me.

I don't much care for this state of affairs.

(btw, I gave my good cop story last week...seriously)

I'm with you.

...a certificate from the Oakland Cannabis Cooperative allowing him to grow and possess it...

This is an organization sanctioned by the government?

During the search, officers found 79 plants...several bags of marijuana, a scale...growing materials, including lights, fertilizer and hoses.

Just how ill is this guy? 79 plants is a lot of Ganja.

There's more to this guy's little operation than meets the eye. That's probably why they took his computer. It has his customer list on it, as he stated. But I'm very suspicious by nature.

Too bad the Akita didn't tear the pigs up a bit before he passed. Took 9 shots to down him though, so he showed some determination.

Yet another "pigs will be pigs" story. One almost every day now.

Your computer must be 20 years old; that's got to be some kind of record.

In Oakland, California on October 28, 2001 I called the police because I thought I heard someone breaking into my house. When I opened the door for them the dog rushed out and they shot him 3 times...they shot him until he was dead. Of course I was hysterical so what did they do? Put me in an ambulance and took me to Highland General Hospital, strapped me to a gurney so I couldn't "escape and then in the morning I was taken to the local mental hospital where I stayed for a couple of hours until I could talk to the psychiatrist who decided that I WAS NOT INSANE. After that, my only goal in life was to get away from that place. I had been a property tax owner in Oakland, California for over 20 years and there was no way in hell that I would continue to support that hell hole. Less than a year later we were out of there finally. I still think sometimes how they could very easily have shot me while they were at it and gotten away with it.

Outrageous story! But then again, it's probably par for the course in Oakland.

My story is far tamer. About 20 years ago the cops rang my doorbell and told me that a dude they were chasing was spotted jumping over my fence from the back alley into my backyard. They appeared at my door with their K-9 (a German Shepherd). My dog, a 150 lb (very friendly) Newfoundland, came to the door with me and scared the crap out of their pooch, without making any aggressive moves or sounds. The macho cop, whose hand was now on his holster, got very agitated and told me I better get my dog outta there fast, else there could be trouble. I of course complied and everything turned out fine. But I'll never forget his anger after getting his ego bruised.

More from the Big Gun, Little D*ck law enforcement sector. These out of control cops work themselves up like a Lombardi half time talk before serving a warrant. No one can tell me that all non-violent, non-confrontational options had been exhausted before the raid. They were obviously more interested in getting a conviction and siezing property than stopping illegal activity.

My question is what on earth was his 'secretary' doing there at 10 pm while the wife was in bed? I dont care if he is self employed out of his home....that is fishy.

I want to destroy the druggies, stoners, and those who would steal more lives into the haze of drugs, but, we've got to minimize collateral damage.

Me, I want to smash the bloodthirsty kulaks, those hoarding tightfists of the countryside, without harming the Revolution or future harvests. It is a tight balance to walk! All this requires a lot of nuanced killing and a thoughtful extermination protocol.
