It's not just the school, public or private.

It is our garbage pop culture.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

I disagree. There are many quality private schools in this country. However comma most are affiliated with a religious organization and, as such, are really only an option for parents of that particular faith.

Our pop culture certainly IS crap though! Too many kids going to school these days are more worried about looking the part of ghetto gangsta, sleezy pop star, or superstar athlete then they are about getting an education.

I, for one, am going to send my children to private school and, when they are older, will strongly encourage them to attend at least some school in a foreign country. Lets kids see that there are other people, other cultures, and other ideas out there. I believe it will also allow them to truly appreciate the possibilities that only Americans can enjoy, if they chose to work for them.

send the kids to Ghana to learn some discipline and real skills

Better yet, create your own boarding school right here in America. Emphasize those same character building areas mentioned in this article. Charge less, reduce cost of trips home, provide a real service and make a comfortable living.

Shalom.

relieves them of some of the pressure of having too many choices

I've never heard of this problem. They are imbeciles--that's the problem...

My point is one can send their child to the best private school in the US, but that still doesn't escape the culture that permeates like a noxious fume.

I think native born Americans might start doing this for the high school years.

Just keep them away from US garbage culture during the most impressionable and vulnerable years.

My best female friend is a black African and she's the one that really hates that term. She thinks there's nothing more insulting to her culture than having West African culture refried and warmed over for American tastes (think Kwanzaa and kente cloth). Most Ghanians are christians anyway.

My best male friend is an Afrikaner, descended from the original Boer settlers who gave the Zulus a taste of their own medicine. He thinks it's too much misplaced priorities. Should be concentrating on education, not rewriting history.

Both of them had the same type of education, in a christian boarding school. They both are very educated in their respective fields. My Ghanian friend is going to homeschool her son and is already teaching him his alphabet at 1.5 years old!

I don't believe it is just our pop culture. I think the government (gov.agenda) schools have to control the population. Dumb down the kids and they will follow....our school books are becoming PC (pop culture and politically correct) and the achievement goals are declining. Good ol' fashion learning has been replaced by multiculture blah, blah that doesn't teach. Order in the classroom is gone. Social services are called to mediate every problem. Every problem is excused or put off for later. Again, a private school with the goal to teach and not preach PC is what our young minds need.
