The fact is George W. Bush ran as a compassionate conservative and made many promises that did not meet the standards of what is considered "True Conservatism". He has not wavered from those promises and for someone to say they voted for him on 2000 but wont in 2004 because he isn't a true conservative is disingenuous at best
He has governed as he said he would. Those who say he claimed to be a straight line conservative weren't listening.
