One economist's study I've seen said that the financial impact of 9/11 was $80 billion. In other words, spend it there, or spend it here.
That's not counting the entire TOURISM/AIRLINE industry, which is still in the doldrums because of lower travel levels!

Good points re what 9/11 cost financially, LS.
On FNC earlier tonight they said that the Marshal Plan cost over $13 BILLION in the 1940's. Adjusted for today's dollars that has got to be at least the cost of the war in Iraq.
We can spend the $$ here to rebuild after another attack or in Iraq to improve the region.
We can let the terrorists gather in Iraq and take on our armed, well trained soldiers or we can let the terrorists (who have proven they can and will travel) come to the homeland again to face unarmed civilians.
