The same trends are evident in the south.
though attacks are localized, they have done great harm.
they have killed civilian aid workers of united nations.
they have bombed the jordanian embassy...
lastly, they murdered a respected cleric and muslims at prayer...

Plus there was the "leak" of what the speech would consist of and there was speculation (which I dismissed immediately) that President Bush would start backing off any WMD claims and "softening" the charge.
Nonsense, hence my noting with approval his flat statement.
