"America in a broad coalition acted first in Afghanistan... removing regime that harbored Al Qaeda.... nearly 2/3 leaders captured and killed.... we are on their trail.... seized their accounts.... uncovered sleeper cells in US..."

"Iraq one of the swiftest and most humane actions in history.... terrorists were convinced that free nations were decadent and weak ... grew bolder believing history was on their side.... since we went to war, history has taken a different turn, carrying the fight to the enemy, rolling back the terrorist threat to civilization, not on the fringes of its influence but in the heart of its power..."

"This undertaking is difficult and costly, but worthy .... the triumph of democracy and tolerance in Iraq and
Afghanistan will be a set back for terrorism.... they thrive on tyranny... everywhere freedom takes hold, terror will retreat. Our enemies know a free Iraq will be free of them, free of torture and secret police... all their hateful ambitions will fall like statues.... that is why (now) a collection of killers is trying to undermine our progress... members of old regime, foreign terrorists come to pursue their war on free nations... their goal, reclaiming Iraq for their tyranny.... attacks predominately in the central region of Iraq... north of Iraq generally stable, moving forward..."

the terrorists have cited Beirut and Somalia..

2 years ago I told congress and the country that the war on terror would be lengthy and difficult...

Iraq is now the central front and there they must be defeated.

This will take time and sacrifice.

we will spend what is necessary for freedom and to make our nation more secure

"They have killed civilians of UN... bombed Jordanian embassy... murdered a respected cleric and 100 muslims at prayer ... (insert necessary "peaceful teachings of Islam" BS here)... two years ago I told Congress and the country that the war on terror would be a lengthy war... fought on many fronts in many places.... enemies of freedom are making a desperate stand in Iraq.... we will do what is necessary, we will spend what is necessary, to promote freedom and make our own nation more secure.... we have done it before, lifting up Japan and Germany, standing by them... rebuilt... effort repayed many times over... we help Iraq in the same spirit, for their sake and our own. Three objectives: destroying terrorists, enlisting other nations aid, helping Iraqis build their own future..."

Strategy in Iraq has 3 objectives

First, we are taking direct action against terrorists in Iraqi theatre.

Staying on the offensive, precise strikes on enemy targets.

Raids seizing caches of weapons and masses of ammunition

so far of the 55 most wanted Iraqi leaders, 42 in custody or dead..

"So far, of the 55 most wanted, 42 are dead or in custody... anyone who seeks to harm our soldiers can know our soldiers are hunting them.... 130,000 American troops, with 20,000 from 29 other countries....
British and the Poles (yay!)... requesting a third multinational force... some countries want UN resolution... we will introduce one... a force to be led by America. Not all our friends agree with our decisions..."

"60,000 Iraqis defending their country... ready to take the next step toward self-government... submitting a timetable for a constitution... have confidence in the ability of the Iraqi people to govern themselves... our strategy in Iraq will require new resources... also in Afghanistan... 87 billion dollars... military and intelligence operations... also support our commitment to Iraq and Afghanistan to rebuild, improve security, restore basic services (electricity, water, schools, roads, medical clinics) ...we will support our troops and keep our word...Powell will meet with other nations to discuss their contributions ... they should contribute to that success." "We cannot go back to before 9/11/01... we must take our fight to the enemy where he lives, so as not to meet them on our streets... we honor the sacrifice (of our military) and honor them.... Captain in 3rd Infantry division in Baghdad wrote.... 'I see it in the eyes of the hungry people here, they are starved for freedom and opportunity, a note from the frontlines of freedom.' Your country thanks you and supports you.... we have been tested and the dangers have not passed... we accept the duties of our generation, we are active and resolute in our own defense, serving in freedom's cause, the cause of all mankind." And now, back to Brit!
