"Courts coming back, hospitals and schools up, electrcity generally at 50%. Society moving forward and it doesn't make the headlines." Good for the correspondent!

CNN is probably itemizing every failure in Iraq, or interviewing families of the dead soldiers......etc.

7 minutes till showtime.

Maybe the GOP will be smart enough in the after-speech commentary to remind talking heads and viewers of the following:A new poll says 71 percent of Americans say the US has done a good job in Iraq since major fighting came to an end.

Have ya seen this?

She has no problem with war movies, and we have the DVD so it's convenient. But she's a bit testy right now and some scenes are likely to provoke her.

Well, what do you know? There he is, and his voice doesn't sound bad. I'll bet he's been sucking lemon juice all afternoon to clear it out.

"Ah, the talking heads are on."

I don't know about you, but I am so sick of these pundits. Most of them say the President needs to clear things up about our role in Iraq, yada, yada, yada. Since 9/11 and on, President Bush has clearly stated that this was a long-term effort, that it would cost money and lives, and that it wasn't going to be easy. It's as if none of these pundits ever heard any of the words he's said. I clearly remember them all...I don't know what their problem is.

I hope POTUS will launch a pre-emptive strike against democrats, particularly senate democrats running for his office.

Off to the TV room room to enjoy!

Anybody catch What room in the WH is the speech being made from? Brit said it's a room that hasn't been used for speeches before but I didn't catch which on.

Oh, I agree! Lang was fantastic.

The characters of Pickett and Jackson are so very different, and yet he played them both with great skill.

But it's Jeff Daniels as Joshua Chamberlain that totally blows me away......I mean, could a role be any different from Dumb and Dumber??

I think I've seen Gettysburg 20 times, because our son, Eric, watched it every time he was home sick from school, from the time he was 8 until he graduated! :o)

Good...Brit Hume and Jim Angle on now. I hate it when the third string does the commentary.

One comforting thing....no one is watching Chris Mathews on MSNBC asking Howard Fineman, Nora O'Donnell, and the Gerkin guy "educate" us! Jeez!

But retired General Wayne Downing is one of the all time good guys. He's on too. "Get the Iraqis more involved", that's what we need to do, he says. He says we shouldn't have disbanded the Iraqi military.

Barry bad boy McCaffrey says we arne't going to get substantial troops from Europe....just token troops from governments that don't support us. They will diffuse the situation, and they will help. "Dollars are bullets", he says...He doubts we will get much from the Europeans. "At the end of the day, we have to build a pollitical machine at the city level", he says.

They will keep chewing till the President speaks...and then tell us what we heard...
