I'll give you that
"normally not part of the Labor Department's monthly unemployment report " is debunkable.
Your point about "new" jobs is not so however. The increased jobs in the "household" survey are neccessarily "new"- by definition.
There's just a difference in the definition of a job between the two surveys. A job in the "establishment" survey is more like what we typically think of.

Your point about "new" jobs is not so however. The increased jobs in the "household" survey are neccessarily "new"- by definition. I didn't say they were new jobs. I said existing jobs were filled by 147,000 previously unemployed job seekers as polled in the household survey.
I allowed that some of those 147,000 may have started their own business, but that would have been picked up in the household survey and not changed the 93,000 jobs cut - was what I was trying to emphasize.
Bottom line, 147,000 previously unemployed found work among the 138M total job base, but had 93,000 fewer existing jobs to choose from.

I know several people who used this unemployed time to go back to school and change careers. Some took early retirement and got out of the job market.

There is lots of hiring in asia, lots of new jobs, lots of families getting a paycheck. Skilled, unskilled, high tech, low tech, construction, etc. all kinds of jobs out there. Even american companies are hiring in asia. We are in one of the greatest economic booms in the history of the world. A boom that results in the greatest lowering of labor costs in the history of the world, while not reducing the price of the goods sold, i.e., no pass on the labor savings to the consumer.
