I agree, Timesink. There are those of us in our state who are trying to change the state Republican party from within, i.e. getting rid of RINOs, fighting to ensure that the smaller government, lower taxes platform is followed.

Then, we have so-called conservatives undercutting that effort, making it harder and more difficult to accomplish. But, the funny part is that if we are successful in fixing it, they will then jump on the bandwagon after all the hard work is done, and that really bothers me...

Yeah, likewise. But keep in mind that 90% of these types end up folding like a cheap suit when Election Day comes along and they realize that they really only have two choices, one of which is pure evil. It's real easy to bloviate a year and two months before the election, when they know there's not going to be any chance of a change to the status quo for a long time. But once that chance for change comes up, they'll meekly put their tail between their legs and vote for Nethercutt ... or at least just stay home. (Which doesn't help, but it does mean that the Libertarian or whatever fringe right-wing third party groups exist out there will end up getting the same 0.2% of the vote they always do, and will thus be completely shut out of the political discourse yet again.)
