[history]
Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Saturday she planned to block President Bush's nominee to head the Environmental Protection Agency over an internal report saying the EPA misled New Yorkers about health risks after the World Trade Center attack.
In a telephone interview, Clinton told The Associated Press she would place a hold on the nomination of Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt, a procedural move that would prevent the full Senate from voting on his confirmation.

If the air was that bad I doubt the President would have gone to ground zero so soon after 9/11.

Can a freshman Senator do this?
What a twit.
At least we know that the fuss about the air quality in NY was not just the usual Bush-bashing.
I would hope that someone is taking a close look at the bureaucrats in the EPA, especially the hold-overs from the last administration. We all know that the sudden interest is bound to be political.
I'd clean up the environment at the EPA if I had any way to do it.

"This is a very big issue," she said. "It not only has to do with the health and safety of the people I represent. It has to do with the credibility and trust of this entire government."This says it all: she's getting ready for '04.

ROFL!!! A keeper!
The only BAD AIR that needs to be stopped is the foul, hot air eminating from the putrid oral orifice of Mrs. HeeHaw Clinton.
What is wrong with our system that one lying carpetbagger hooligan can stop up the entire process?

Hillary is within her rights to do this, of course. But if this position remains vacant for an unacceptable amount of time, Bush should just impound the EPA funds in an amount equal to that budgeted for regulatory enforcement. When all the Libs squawk on the Sunday news programs, the administration can point to Hillary and say "Give us our nominee".

This is why Republicans lose. They have no balls, whereas the Libs will do ANYTHING to win. Bush is gone in 2004 unless he quickly grows a pair.

All these grown men being ordered around by this rookie broad (I can't call her a woman or lady). She's got more testosterone then all of them. Embarrassing.

Hillary using the terms" credibility and trust in this government" is the height of arrogance. She and Bill did more to destroy the meaning of those 2 words than all the other presidents since 1776. For someone who is not Jewish, she gives new meaning to the word "Hutzpah". Unbelieveable.
