But ask them what they're for , what they'd do instead of war, and they've got no suggestions...They, in a lot of cases, are protesting because it's trendy, or their friends are doing it, etc. They don't have alternatives.

(In my humble opinion, the new expression for backing down from a fight should be called 'frenching')

Thanks, Pokey!
But I must say of all the fuzzy, blurry, Vaseline-lensed phoneys hanging round the Royal Courts of Justice, the worst by far are not the Government, nor even the BBC, but the anti-war protesters posthumously conscripting the late David Kelly to their ranks.

Twee? "Front-bottom?" If I didn't like Steyn, I'd read him for his word usage.

Actually, nothing - I was replacing a compound tense (has been) with a simple tense and somehow hit the shift lock and didn't even notice the result, believe it or not. That's the result of editorial obsessiveness - nitpicking while missing the obvious!

But he was obviously, despite his socialism, a moral man and he definitely rose to the challengeI agree. What's ironic is that it's Blair's fellow socialists who are trying to do him in while almost all the tories stood behind him on Iraq. So his fellow lefties may knock Blair out and pave the way to a tory government, which I personally wouldn't mind. British lefties are as stupid as American lefties.

Heads should roll at the BBC, and not just their dishonest reporter, Andrew Gilligan I completely, agree, C.B. But it will never happen because of the Beeb's power. If we think withdrawing government support for NPR is hard, imagine an outfit with ten-fold the power.
