Excellent summary of the trumped up uranium story.

Funny, isn't it, that while over here the likes of Matthews was banging the drum on "Scooter" Libby and Cheney, over in Great Britain was the "sexed up" dossier brouhaha culminating in David Kelly killing himself.

Funny that after Kelly's suicide the media was so hellbent on their intent to bring down Blair that he was almost immediately asked the appalling question if he felt he had Kelly's blood on his hands. The obvious situation was that it was Blair who had been stabbed in the back by Kelly, in addition to, of course, the likes of Andrew Gilligan who was known by that time to tell bald faced lies on tv (the Americans aren't really at the Baghdad Airport).

And I might add, before Kelly's death the media was preparing (I heard Keith Olberman, for one) to try and attack President Bush on it. The two stories were of a piece: That the Bush and Blair governments had both worked to deceive their respective countries by misrepresenting the intelligence on Iraq and the threat it posed.

Coincidence? I think not. Somebody crafted this line of attack. Thankfully the truth has won the day this time around, and in relatively short order. But it was maddening for several weeks to see media lies broadcast and printed time and again.

I remember the week well. Matthews was all over Bush and Cheney. when the story was cooling down at the end of the week he was still going strong! I am watching him now, and he has Mario Cuomo on, saying Bush went in to Iraq with no preparation. It is just disgusting!!
