This is where the hard speed limiter kicks in. The fuel delivery esentially stops, so the instant imbalance of wind resistance (formerly balanced by the power) feels like it hits you in the face: "whump". I describe it as "a two-by-four in the spokes".
Not dangerous, just startling.

The fastest was over 140(probably closer to 160) in a 69 Grand Prix, 455 4 barrel, trying to get home from Columbia,SC after cutting school. The drive is 80 miles. We made home in a hurry
