Senate Democrats blamed the White House Thursday for the Senate's failure to confirm judicial nominee Miguel Estrada Now there's some nerve.
But what can we expect - shifting responsibility for one's actions onto someone else seems to be the way this world works in this day and age.
To: TastyManatees
The Dems are obviously trying to run for cover. But the White House is over the top in claiming this was a "political hate crime" against a Hispanic nominee. Why can't they make the case that the reason Estrada was opposed was because he was preceived by the leftists in the Senate as a conservative? They are out to block a turn to the right in the judiciary. We are trying to make that turn to the right, so why doesn't the White House argue for the need for conservative judges, rather than make this bogus claim that Estrada was opposed because of his ethnicity?

Democrats are the greatest spinners since Maytag invented the spin dryer. Its takes nuts as big as beachballs to try to lay this off on the Republicans.

The Dems are trying to pull a fast one. I wonder how many left news sites will tow this line of crap for them.

He WAS opposed over his ethnicity: he's a conservative Hispanic, and the Democrats can't stand to have one of "their" groups invaded by the GOP.

I don't know why we don't just have a generic title for these threads.
Something like....
DEMS BLAME EVERYONE ELSE FOR EVERYTHING EVER GONE WRONG, EVEN THINGS THAT HAVEN'T.

That's not how the White House spun it. They said it was because of his ethnicity, period. You're saying that it was the fact he is a CONSERVATIVE Hispanic, which was the main point of contention by the Dems....his conservatism. The White House seems to want to make an issue of his ethnicity; why not make an issue of his philosophy? Why does the White House seem to want to hide the fact he is a conservative?

Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., added that the White House's decision to withhold papers that could have revealed Estrada's political philosophy revealed its attempt to influence the judicial branch of government.Would it have been too much for the article to point out that the request for these "papers" was totally unprecedented?

"...maybe the outcome could have been different," Schumer said."Schumer, of course, is a lying scumbag.
By the way, is there any possibility that Rudy will challenge this mouse-faced putz for the Senate?

From the Wall Street Journal editorial today:
"In Mr. Estrada's case this is all the more outrageous because his only sin is being a smart Hispanic conservative. No fewer than four former Democrats who supervised his work in the Justice Department have vouched for his integrity and qualifications; if he were white he'd already be confirmed. But because he is a young Hispanic, liberals fear the appellate-court credential would make him that much harder to oppose if he were ever nominated to the Supreme Court."

I'm afraid the congressional Republicans failed on purpose so that Estrada's story could play as an election issue. Sorry, but what else explains the President and the Republican majority failing to fight for this nominee? Somebody tell me why I'm wrong. (disgusted)

Senate Democrats blamed the White House Thursday for the Senate's failure to confirm judicial nominee Miguel Estrada (search), nominated 28 months ago to a seat on the federal bench. Huh?!
I'm really starting to dislike democRATS. They'd look Jesus in His eye---and lie!
To: TastyManatees
had they acceded to Miguel Estrada's wish and let those documents go, maybe the outcome could have been different," Schumer saidOne day real soon, that outrageous lie, and the silly socialist SOB liar who said it, will get whats coming to his party.
Its going to be a political massacre that will make '94 and 2002 look tame.

Why does the White House seem to want to hide the fact he is a conservative? Because it's politically smarter to use his ethnicity.

However, "I do think we ought to be careful about having extremes, from either the left or the right, on courts," he added. I wonder who or what would seem extreme in the leftist sense to these people?
