Now there's some nerve.
But what can we expect - shifting responsibility for one's actions onto someone else seems to be the way this world works in this day and age.

The Dems are obviously trying to run for cover. But the White House is over the top in claiming this was a "political hate crime" against a Hispanic nominee. Why can't they make the case that the reason Estrada was opposed was because he was preceived by the leftists in the Senate as a conservative? They are out to block a turn to the right in the judiciary. We are trying to make that turn to the right, so why doesn't the White House argue for the need for conservative judges, rather than make this bogus claim that Estrada was opposed because of his ethnicity?

That's not how the White House spun it. They said it was because of his ethnicity, period. You're saying that it was the fact he is a CONSERVATIVE Hispanic, which was the main point of contention by the Dems....his conservatism. The White House seems to want to make an issue of his ethnicity; why not make an issue of his philosophy? Why does the White House seem to want to hide the fact he is a conservative?

No fewer than four former Democrats who supervised his work in the Justice Department have vouched for his integrity and qualifications; if he were white he'd already be confirmed. But because he is a young Hispanic, liberals fear the appellate-court credential would make him that much harder to oppose if he were ever nominated to the Supreme Court."
