As ststed many times and old fashioned filabuster is much easier for the demos.
Schumer could rant on for days, while the Pubbies have to have 50 people there at every moment, because the demo could ask fo an up and down vote and defeat the nomination.
As was stated before Strom Thurmond was not in the best of health.
Also I could see the liberal press giving the "noble" Schumer or Hillary accolades for going against those mean old Republicans.
Sorry but I think it is better to hammer the point that the demos threw out 200 years of Senate precedent.
