There was no dnr, no living will, nothing at all to ever indicate her wishes except her husband's word that she once said - while watching a movie with various inlaws - that she wouldn't want to be on life support.
He failed to mention this for years after her collapse, only bringing it up after collecting over a million dollars in award money as a result of a medical malpractice trial, during which he gave heartfelt testimony that he loved his wife deeply and wanted to care for her for the rest of his life but lacked the funds with which to do so.

that she wouldn't want to be on life support. Most of us who say this are referring to a ventilator. I doubt that any of us would be watching TV and say, sure, go ahead and starve me to death if I am in anyway incapable of caring for myself.

And what a king-hell mess it has caused, eh? I filled out a DNR and Living Will years ago - there are copies all through my personal papers (including a .PDF on the hard drive on my computer), a card in my wallet, reference pointers to all of them in my will, and a copy on file at the courthouse. I can think of nothing more horrible (both for me and for my family) than the situation that Ms. Schiavo is in.

(It is not true that Larry Flynt's biggest financial donor is Dicker and Dicker of Beverly Hills.)
