I actually saw a car of this model -- maybe this very one --back in the '70s. The guy would actually commute every day by driving his car across the Columbia River in Richland, WA.

LOL. He will wail like a baby when he hears about this vehicle.
If this company had a sense of humor, they would give him one.

Actually, if they'd had cars back when Jesus was on Earth, he'd probably have driven a crew cab pickup truck or a large van to haul his disciples and his carpentry tools around with him.
But cars didn't show up until after Pentecost. (Acts 5:12 clearly says that they car-pooled all the way into the Temple, because the Apostles were all in one Accord on Solomon's Porch. I'd hate to think what that little to-do did to their insurance rates :o)

Make Ted their spokesperson.
"Hi. My name is Ted Kennedy. Had I driven one of these years ago, I'd be President now"

Thanks for the reading suggestions.
The reference I made was a joke, having to do with environmentalist wackos insisting Jesus would have driven an 'earth-friendly car'.

I drove a Lotus once but kept it on the road and even that was an experience to remember.

Oh, right, no, I didn't mean to insinuate that was the red car that crossed the Charles. That crossing was done maybe 25 years ago with one of these ugly buggers in red.

Ironically, the owner of that red car lived in Watertown, MA.

Ironically, the owner of that red car lived in Watertown, MA. Seriously? I mean if it was a joke, I'd've picked Waterford.

Well, the Charles River does go right by Watertown. Waterford is in CT, isn't it?
Seriously. IIRC, the Globe or Herald did a feature article on the guy and his car in the early 80's, and he lived in Watertown. I've seen the car a few times, myself.

Hey, Con, what do you think of when you hear the word "amphibious"? Yeah, me too...
N.C. State basketball player Chris Washburn, commenting on his ability to drive to the basket, "Yeah, I can go to my right and my left. That's because I'm amphibious."

Heh heh...I haven't heard that in a while!
I'll admit that Washburn was a doofus of the first order. ;)
I wonder where he is now?
This is the most recent article I could find on him.

Globe or Herald did a feature article on the guy and his car in the early 80's, and he lived in Watertown. I've seen the car a few times, myself. Cooter, that's fantastic! I never saw that car before or since and after something like 25 years, I learned where it came from. Actually, I was coming from WBZ via Watertown and heading back to work in Boston and this was most definitely a popular route from Watertown.
Cooter, thank you. Free Republic is amazing.
If your comment was a joke, i.e. Watertown, thenWaterFord would have been a good choice. Just trying to cover the bases.
