Mine is a very friendly choc. lab, but her size intimidates strangers.

I used to have the same mindset about my Choc. Lab, until recently. Don't let 'em fool ya. My boy got down right nasty and got it on a few weeks back with a stranger and his dog that was in the area (actually, walking very close to my property). Gotta say though, was happy to find he was willing and able when he wanted to be.

I get a chuckle just thinking about mine doing that. But, it is always a pleasant surprise when you see their instincts automatically kick in. I don't get mine to water or woods very often, but she goes into automatic mode when we do get the chance. I can imagine that it would work the same if I were ever threatened.

I have a black lab that is the dearest dog on earth. But I have seen her "Wall O' Teeth" act when confronted with the an intruder and I wouldn't want to be on the receiving side of it, no way, no how.
