I am intimidated just thinking about the two boxers, especially the big guy. I do find that even just the bark, drives people away from the front door. I can't imaging any one stupid enough to trespass on your property with two viscous sounding barks on the other side of the door! My beleif is that a good dog is the best home security available.

The 85 lb boxer is one of the most intimidating dogs I have ever seen. And he really does not like strangers. When we first got him we lived in a not so nice section of town and had section 8 housing next to our townhome. He was never trained to be quiet and behave when somone came to the door. It is common for people coming to the door to sell stuff to step back from the door about 20 feet and try to talk to me from there.

When I have a party I often take him to my parents house for the night to avoid his having to encounter strangers. The small one (Maggie) is harmeless though and would be the worst guard dog on the planet if she ever had to defend the home. She loves everyone and all she wants is love and attention and will jump up and hug and lick anyone she can.

Constitution Day and Mykdsmom met her at recent party at my house. The large boxer (male), Clubber, was at my parents that night. He has cancer though and may not be around much longer. And he is only 5! And with our first baby due at the end of December it may be a while before he can be replaced. Hopefully the drugs will help him and he will be around for many years. But with Boxers cancer is a common thing and something you have to expect if you have them.

Also, Clubber, the 85 lb one got up to 97 lbs and the Vet put him on a diet. He has been on diet food for over 3 years and 79 lbs is the smallest he has ever gotten.
