Thanks for sharing about your grandson. I have a 12 year old high-functioner. He can drive dead people to drink. But he is into Nintendo, that 70's show and wrestling ... he is now at the point where I can leave him alone in the house for short periods of time but then I call him from my cell every 15 minutes only to hear "stop calling me Mom".
He is hung up on remembering everyone's birthday .. even people I don't know. :)

Sounds just like mine. Also, he can "why" me to death on just about everything. "Are you going somewhere, Grandma? Why are you putting your shoes on? WHY?" LOL

I worked with Autistic adults for many years. One fellow was fascinated with birthdays. He would ask all staff about their relatives birthdays.
First time he asked me, he wanted to know my Mom's name and birthday. So, I told him my Mom's name and that she was born on April 1.
Next he asked what year, I told him. He immediately told me the day my Mom was born. I think he told me it was a Monday, I later looked it up and he was right. I was astounded! This wasn't just a lucky guess, he was able to do this with all dates.
Amazing, Tommy was amazing. Will always remember him.

My husband is reading this thread with me now, and this caught our eye--I missed it the first time:
He is hung up on remembering everyone's birthday .. even people I don't know. :)
My son knows everyone's birthday too--and the birthdays of all the Presidents, and of various celebrities like Laura Branigan, Kirsten Dunst, etc, who interest him for one reason or another. (Voice talents for movies he's liked, etc.)
And he makes sure we all know it when it's John Quincy Adams Day.
He made cards for Ronald Reagan's and Nancy Reagan's birthdays.
