I still have dreams of going into space. The bad part it is not going to happen :(

Unfortunately it seems that earth has no intention of developing solar system resources anytime soon. For $20 million you can get a few low orbits, but that doesn't grant even celebrity status anymore. Aside from LEO, there won't be many people in space for a long time to come. A few on the moon and even fewer on Mars, but that's it. Rutans are a long way from achieving private orbit, and that is the best bet of the common man.

You obviously don't want to go bad enough to get rich enough to make it happen either through buying a ticket on a Soyuz or investing in many of the struggling commercial space launch companies trying to make space access more affordable.

Blindly supporting doomed NASA programs is pushing you away from your alledged goal of traveling into space.

You'll get your chance to go. It may take about 25-30 years, but you should be able to simply buy a ticket by then and get a shot at staying at a large, rotating, 2001esque station too. I just finished reading "Spaceflight Revolution" written by David Ashford, CEO of Bristol Spaceplanes. He believes within 20-30 years that a "mature" RLV spaceplane will be possible that will enable orbital transport for $5,000 per person.
