Fire-retardant foam was sprayed around the plane after landing as a precautionary measure Sounds like a big waste of foam. Were they expecting the nose wheel to catch on fire?

The front of the plane contacted the runway! Sparks, maybe?

Big waste of foam? Read the article "...and eventually made contact with runway and came to a rest on its nose." The front gear did not extend.
