"Her memory is intact and her recall of events -- during the ambush and after -- informs the narrative. That's important. This is the book that will finally give us a first-person account of what happened."
He adds, "The book will address and answer any lingering questions about her injuries."This should be interesting reading. Unfortunately, Wash Post articles must be excerpted. There is much more to this article, including info on the co-author, the advance, some quotes from Lynch, etc..

A biography for somebody who hasn't live 1/4 of their life yet.
To: Semper Paratus
You are right. The term "biography" is ill-used in this case. The book is only covering a specific event in her life. This does not constitute a "biography."

Well, I'm twice her age and my bio isn't one tenth as interesting as her experiences in 2003 alone. And if I'm fortunate, I will never have a year like she has or become fodder for a biography in any way.

"Her memory is intact and her recall of events -- during the ambush and after -- informs the narrative. That's important. This is the book that will finally give us a first-person account of what happened."So, her "amnesia" was assigned to her by the Army, and now that she is a civilian, her memory is restored. Not a surprise. Remember how Pfc. Patrick Miller couldn't remember that he was ordered to forget "certain details" and had to be shut up by his fellow former POWs in their Dateline interview.
Hey JK, I'll take the under.

I have 21 buddies who were KIA in 'Nam that didn't get the press coverage, the medals or accolades or a biography.
Not to mention my other buddy who was captured by the VC/NVA and escaped after 42 days.

"Her story is one of mystery and misinformation. There has been concern that she doesn't even remember what happened"Sounds like Hillary's memoirs.

"I have 21 buddies who were KIA in 'Nam that didn't get the press coverage, the medals or accolades or a biography. " Fact of life: Cute little teenage beauties get more attention than big smelly grunts. It's hard wired. Fuzzy bunnies get more love than armadillos. Deal with it.

HA! That was a good one, I almost shot coffee out of my nose.

Keep those "cute little teenage beauties" away from war zones where they don't belong. Problem solved.

Having personally been a participant in an event for which I didn't have a high enough security clearance, I can verify that the military will have already had her sign a statement in which she legally affirms that she will never reveal any of the clasified information listed on the form under penalty of law.
She will also have been briefed about any information they consider to be classified up to the level for which she was cleared. My guess is that she was cleared for Secret and was exposed to the methods, tactics, names, etc. of Delta, Seals, CIA, and TF 160. All of these will be Top Secret + and she will only be able to refer to them in a general way.

I've argued that here for hours. She shouldn't have been near combat.

LOL...isn't that the truth. I am thankful that she is alive and well, but give me a break!

major yawn...i'm not interested in her "story"... because there isn't any, i'm wondering if they'll market this "book" under fiction.
To: jaykay
To be written by Rick Bragg. Didn't we last hear of him when his buddy Howell Raines finally had to separate him from the New York Times for fudging by-lines? - a sub-plot to the Jayson Blair affair.
To: jaykay
Thanks for posting this. I can't wait to read the book.

With all due respect to this brave soldier, I think we should really be writing books about the guys who went in and saved her a$$. From what I understand, she screwed up, took a wrong turn, and waited in captivitiy for other soldiers to save her. I was just talking to a current senior cadet at West Point, and he agrees w/ me.

I thought people who come back from war, usually wait a few years or even decades before telling their happenings in the war. Why is Jessica so quick to do so, even though the war is not over yet per say?
